Ultrasound Scanning
Ultrasound Scanning with Clarius L15 HD3
We are pleased to offer diagnostic ultrasound scanning using the Clarius L15 HD3, a high-definition, wireless ultrasound scanner designed for detailed assessment of superficial structures, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, nerves and blood vessels.
The Clarius L15 HD3 provides clear, real-time imaging, helping us to better understand the cause of pain, swelling, injury or reduced function. It is particularly useful in foot and ankle assessment, where accurate diagnosis can help guide the most appropriate treatment plan.
What can ultrasound scanning help assess?
Ultrasound scanning may be useful for investigating:
-
Plantar fasciitis and heel pain
-
Achilles tendon problems
-
Tendon inflammation or tears
-
Ligament sprains and soft tissue injuries
-
Morton’s neuroma and nerve-related pain
-
Bursitis and fluid build-up
-
Joint inflammation
-
Lumps, bumps and soft tissue changes
-
Circulatory or vascular concerns, where appropriate
What does the scan involve?
Ultrasound scanning is quick, safe and non-invasive. A small amount of gel is applied to the skin, and the scanner is gently moved over the area being assessed. The images are viewed in real time, allowing us to examine the tissues beneath the skin and identify possible causes of your symptoms.
The Clarius L15 HD3 is especially suited to high-resolution imaging of superficial structures and can scan to a depth of up to 7cm, making it well suited for many foot, ankle and lower-limb conditions.
Why use ultrasound in podiatry?
Ultrasound can give valuable information that cannot always be gained from examination alone. It can help confirm a diagnosis, monitor healing, guide treatment decisions and, in some cases, reduce the need for referral elsewhere.
